Dr. Oliver Giessler advises businesses across a wide range of industries – from incorporation and early-stage financing through to later funding rounds and M&A transactions. Many of his clients are companies whom he represents on a long-term basis and for whom he acts as their primary legal adviser. Having practised as a lawyer since 1997 and as a certified specialist in IT law since 2007, he has extensive experience across different economic cycles. Over the course of his career, he has represented both providers and customers in numerous contract negotiations and transactions – particularly in the technology, media and events sectors – and is therefore very familiar with the perspectives and commercial drivers on both sides.
A technology enthusiast himself, Oliver works hands-on with new technologies and has a particular passion for AI systems. This deep technical understanding enables him to design legal solutions that are precise in legal terms, technically feasible and commercially sensible. His clients particularly value this combination of legal expertise and practical IT know-how, especially when it comes to new technologies and digital business models.
His practice focuses in particular on IT contracts, data protection, AI regulation, licensing, corporate law and general contract law. In complex matters, he draws on a network of specialised advisers to ensure tailored, interdisciplinary solutions.
